Tsavo West National Park is one of Kenya’s largest and most dramatic wildlife destinations, located in
the southeastern region of the country in Taita-Taveta County. It forms part of the famous Tsavo
ecosystem, split from the original Tsavo National Park and known for its rugged landscapes, volcanic
formations, and rich biodiversity.

History
Tsavo West is closely linked to the legendary story of the “Man-Eaters of Tsavo,” two lions that attacked
railway workers during the construction of the Kenya–Uganda Railway in 1898. This story remains one of
Africa’s most famous wildlife legends.
